Little Mouse refuses to share his secret with his friends even after they question him.
Reactions/Observations:
Little Mouse finds an apple but chooses not to share it. Instead he hides it and make the treat his big secret. He hides it in the ground, only to find out that sometimes secrets are best shared.
Young readers will enjoy predicting what will happen in this story. Each time a friend comes to ask what Little Mouse is hiding, readers will wonder whether he will share his secret. Readers will continue to be surprised at what gives away his secret. I created a flannel to use in story time as well as a take home kit for kids and parents to recreate the story of Little Mouse's Big Secret. I also give out a paper apple to each child to "share" the secret. The text is easy enough of children to remember and retell, but the images tell the story well too. The expressive illustrations allow pre readers to easily book talk this story.
